About sa-in
sa-in is based in Srinagar, Kashmir.
We began in Japan in 2023, and later moved our base to Srinagar, where we now live and work close to the artisans and their craft.
Being here allows us to visit workshops, spend time with artisans, and see how each piece is made.
What we share through sa-in comes from these encounters — things that move us, things we want to live with, and handwork we want to see continue.
Why we do this
We are moved by things made slowly, by hand.
There is something in them that cannot be rushed — the time, skill, and care of the person who made them.
We want to live in a world where this kind of handwork continues to exist.
Through sa-in, we hope to share what moves us with people who feel the same.
How we work
We work directly with artisans and workshops in Kashmir.
We visit them, talk with them, and learn about their materials, techniques, and the time that goes into their work.
Some pieces we find and choose as they are. Others grow from ideas we explore together with the artisans.
We believe good handwork deserves time, respect, and a fair value — for the people who make it, for sa-in, and for the people who choose to live with it.
